Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantomania Movie Trailer has been Released

With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania, Marvel Studios is Ready to show you the real Multiverse

Once more, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is in the midst of trailer season. Although Disney is currently primarily concentrating on marketing the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, let's not forget that Phase 5 is also getting off to a great start thanks to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania. In fact, the very first trailer for the movie makes things appear darker than ever. This doesn't exactly appear to be the lighthearted adventure you've grown accustomed to seeing from these quantum Superheroes.

The fact that Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne/Wasp and Paul Rudd's Scott Lang/Ant-Man will once again share the screen and that we'll finally get to spend some time in the Quantum Realm is hinted at in the title. The mysterious land makes a brief appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp from 2018, but it appears that Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, will be the next Thanos to be unleashed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Before Scott Lang and Hope are drawn into the quantum realm in the beginning of the trailer, Paul Rudd's character exhibits a brief moment of existentialism, which "incidentally" makes Benedict Cumberbatch's character in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" characters deliberately ignore a fair amount of warning.

The fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially launched with the superhero team-up film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania, which stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne.

Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), find themselves interacting with strange new creatures while exploring the Quantum Realm.

Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, joins them. Peyton Reed, who also oversaw the earlier portion of the movie, is the director of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantomania. Producing the movie alongside Stephen Broussard is Marvel Studios' secret weapon Kevin Feige.

Is Marvel Hiding Something from Us?

Kang's comic-accurate blue skin could be another major talking point that the trailer is trying to avoid revealing. Unfortunately, the trailer only serves to further the misunderstanding among fans on social media as we see Kang in some shots sporting either blue skin or a blue visor while Majors maintains her natural appearance in others.

A cryptic glimpse of a blue Kang was revealed in behind-the-scenes photos that leaked last year, but the image was ultimately too blurry to be certain. Giving Kang his traditional comic book appearance would've been one way for Quantomania to set the villain apart from Majors' portrayal of He Who Remains. Although it seems straightforward, it would provide a very literal explanation of the distinctions between the two characters.

Whatever the situation, we don't believe Kang's promise to deliver Scott home and give him "more time" in exchange for aiding the hero with an unspecified task. It's possible that the Ant-Man team will team up with Kang to fight M.O.D.O.K. before that villain betrays them and disappears into the Multiverse. Recognizing how the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) likes to flesh out its universes, it makes sense to start him off as a minor antagonist who later reprises a more significant role.

Kang the Conqueror will likely to be appear across the Phase 5 and Phase 6, leading up to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, if his connections to the Fantastic Four and his obvious positioning as "the next Thanos" are any indication. Before that ensemble movie, it makes sense to establish Kang's threat to the MCU. But for the time being, as the countdown to the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania approaches, we're still no closer to understanding the secrets of the Quantum Realm or figuring out who is actually pulling the strings there.
