Cricket is Rajshri's (Huma Qureshi) passion. So much so that, for some reason, she dreams of dancing at an event with Shikhar Dhawan instead of "presenting" the game (she aspires to be a sports presenter). I enjoy reviewing Hollywood movies; when will I have a dream about dancing with Ana De Armas? She is a Meerut girl, and although her parents are making sincere efforts to arrange for her marriage, it is challenging due to her "Double XL" size.
She ends herself sharing a room with Delhi-based fashion designer Saira (Sonakshi Sinha), and the two of them end up sobbing in the bathroom while blaming their "Double XL" bodies for the chaos in their lives. Saira wants a director for the fashion travelogue she has proposed to financiers. What could be more sensible than giving the final possible chance to show yourself to a budding sports presenter who hasn't even landed a job? What is the plot of this movie?
Double XL Movie Review: Script Evaluation
Let me explain a few events that occurred before and throughout the film before we begin discussing the film's plot, which doesn't deserve to be discussed. Before the movie even started, there was a pill carefully put just in front of my seat on the floor, and I wasn't expecting the producers to make such a thoughtful gesture by offering a headache medication. The fire alarm began to ring while I was watching the second half, and I secretly hoped it wasn't a false alarm (but it was!). "Kaash thodi si aag hi lag gayi hoti!" was something I overheard someone else say.
Getting back to Mudassar Aziz's script, which tries to be "progressive" by displaying body acceptance but ends up being a movie that nearly glorifies being obese under the guise of "being healthy" (I used to adore him for Happy Bhag Jayegi and now I'll loathe him for this). I'm a "Double XL" person myself, and there wasn't a single moment that I felt related to. Please don't criticise me for my thoughts. What you're looking for in door gagan ki chaon mein, is in gori teri gaon mein, is just one of several lines that indicate how amateurish this movie is.
Double XL Movie Review: Ator's Performance
Unfortunately, the screenplay gives them no favors in helping them direct all that energy in the appropriate direction. Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha obviously seem to be emotionally revved up for this subject. Both do a good job of carrying the dramatic parts, but they are unable to keep the audience's interest in other ways.
Had admired Zaheer Iqbal in Notebook, but he is now just a poor imitation of Salman Khan. In the movie, he requests to be called "Zo Za Zoo" 3467 times, and I would rather be called "Zoo" for him acting like an ape. Mahat Raghavendra is shown as this always stoned person who carries things even on a plane, and I'm curious as to where the writers got their inspiration for him. I simply want to call the police and report the dealer.
Double XL Movie Review: How is Music and Scores
Satramm Ramani made an effort to assemble a pleasing image from the jumble of a tale he was given. Everything appears new, but it is useless since the exceedingly boring layer of the story and screenplay prevents anybody from noticing.
Double XL Movie Review: The Last Word
All things considered, the issue called for more tactful treatment, belly-laughing humour, and really clever writing, both of which this lacked. I regret not taking that medication!
