The RRR's official entry for the Oscar has been confirmed and here is the list of categories in which RRR has to fight.
RRR: Rise Roar Revolt, directed by Sir SS Rajamouli, is once again grabbing headlines. Just recently, the outspoken director made a splash by winning Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFC). Most of us are aware that Rajamouli's film was not chosen as India's official submission to the Oscars. Instead, India sent Chhello Show: The Last Film Show. This choice elicited varied emotions, with many criticizing the selectors for not selecting the film starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Those who backed Rajamouli's behemoth believed it had the best chance of winning at the Oscars due to its effect on the western public and media.
According to Variety, Srinivas Mohan of RRR may join the list of nominees for the Visual Effects category at the Oscars in 2023. In the same genre, the picture is anticipated to compete with Hollywood blockbusters such as Top Gun Maverick, Avatar 2, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Batman. However, no confirmation has been provided.

Moreover, the prominent publication 'Rolling Stone' has named the "giant Tamil cinema blockbuster" one of the 22 Best Movies of 2022.
On the worldwide list, the SS Rajamouli-directed film is in aristocratic company. Among the titles that share space on the list with this film are Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans at No. 15 (RRR is at No. 12), the critically acclaimed 'Tar' (about the downfall of the famous female conductor of a classical orchestra, Lydia Tar, played by Cate Blanchett) at No. 11, 'The Banshees of Inisherin' starring Colin Farrell (No. 8), jailed Iranian director Jafar Panahi'.
